Still DUing it

Hey guys!
After being scolded for an hour over skype yesterday by Mom and Dad for not doing a good job staying up to date with my blog, I realized it was time for another post. So here we go.

Ill start with school work. Since I left you last my group had to write a 5,000 word project proposal on the prevention of HIV/AIDS in a township in South Africa. Needless to say, it was a lot of work. However my group's proposal "won" the the funding and we received an 8.5 which, apparently, is a very good grade. (I still don't understand how these crazy Dutch grade things). Additionally my group also had a paper on land grabbing in Cambodia due last night. Because we spent a long time on the AIDS proposal we were a little rushed to get this weeks paper in. We had a cram-sesh on saturday to get it done.
What study session is complete without beer and Dominos?

Outside of my dedicated school work I managed to have some fun. On friday some friends and I went up to Amsterdam to watch the Dutch national team take on Hungary. It was a lot of fun! The Dutch won 8-1 so that was ridiculous.

After 2 months of sitting on my butt I finally got a gym membership. It was pretty expensive, but I don't want to come back to the States with a beer belly! Additionally, I have been spending a lot of my free time exploring the different pubs in Maastricht. I found a really cool one that has over 2,000 beers. It is crazy because you don't order a beer, you tell the guy what flavors you like and he chooses the beer for you. It was closed the day I went, but I will certainly try and go again. It sounds fun! Ill keep you guys updated. I am entering the last week of classes for this block and I have my exam next week. Things are getting a little bit stressful and the library is getting crowded. Thats all I got for now.

Cheers,
Ben

  1. Ben, Tell Mom and Dad to take a hike. (Should take less than an hour!). I want more news about beer. Have you had any? Is it readily available for students? What kinds do they have? Can you dress in native costume and get free beer? Congratulations on your assignment. I bet the international input made for interesting discussions. Remember, all the non-Americans are all wrong all the time. Good luck at the gym.
